"Christians are not perfect. Stop expecting us to be"

Please don't expect perfection from us.

Some people are confused about Christians- they seem to believe that Christians should be "perfect", and as soon as they see a Christian do something "imperfect" (i.e. swear, get a little angry, watch a dirty movie or porn magazine, etcetera), they are quick to judge us.

Yet, at the same time, Christians are often condemned for being judgemental and self-righteous for not doing bad things.

Do you want us to act "perfect" or not? Because it seems I can't win as a Christian- if I go along with the crowd and get drunk, have sex, etcetera, I'm being a "bad Christian for not being perfect", yet if I don't, will you also accuse me of being a "boring, self-righteous goodie-two shoes who thinks he's better than the rest of us"?

It's a rather unrealistic standard for anyone- Christian or not.

I'm not perfect- I have my virtues, of course, but also my vices. I am angry, resentful, short-tempered, insecure, paranoid, jealous, socially awkward, lazy, arrogant, anti-social, proud, lustful, occasionally abusive to women, watch horror/gore movies at times, swear (despite condemning it as "immature") and do other things that are bad and unhealthy for a Christian.

No, I am not proud of these vices. Yes, I am trying to better myself, and I'm certainly aware of them. No, I do not delight in these things, because I know they are sinful, and I wish to be free of them. Yes, I am convicted these things are deplorable to GOD, and yes I am repenting and trying to overcome my vices so that I am a better person, more pleasing to my LORD who died for me.

And no, I'm not trying to judge anyone for any of their vices either- just know that they are sinful.

A Christian is someone who accepts Christ as their Saviour because they are not perfect and know it. And we're not motivated by fear- we have a Divine relationship, thus are motivated by love for our Lord.

So please stop expecting us to be perfect- it's not entirely fair. We're all bad, hypocritical, self-righteous, sinful, evil at times- Christian and non-Christian. You only notice it more with Christians, because of the presupposed moral stigma.

(I must say, though, I personally find it interesting when non-Christians judge Christians for being "un-Christian" when we do somethig bad. It shows that they seem to recognize good and evil after all, and expect Christians to be the ones caring about morality enough to be consistent with their beliefs and always act good- it kind of makes atheists look amoral. Not saying they are, but it doesn't do atheism any favours by only criticizing religious people when they do bad things for not being moral, like they should be because they're religious).

Stamps I did not makes, but are awesome and somewhat relevant:

I hope these people don't mind me using their stamps, since I didn't actually ask their permission, but there was no caption saying otherwise

As a Christian, my problem hasn't been people expecting me to be perfect. It's been being accused of hate. I don't hate anyone... I guess I'm probably capable of it, but I as of yet, the closest I've come to hating people were only the truly horrible, evil ones. And myself, but that's just extreme self-esteem problems. >.> The point is that it really, really hurts when people actually believe that I hate others. I feel like, here I am, trying to be respectful of everyone, including those who completely disagree with everything I believe, and I'm often met with none of the same respect from them. Just anger and hate, and being accused of hate. :( But I guess that's off-topic. >.>

Thank you!! I'm SICK and tired of people uploading comments on my page and deviations, inferring that I'm supposed to be perfect or something. NEWS FLASH: Guess what Atheists, I'M NOT PERFECT!!! STOP PRETENDING LIKE I'M SUPPOSED TO BE!!!! (Sorry, just got off an arguments with several people on matters of morality and my faith and I needed to rant for a moment.) :rage:

I have my own vices, but I'm too proud to say them...
...
Anyway, I DO wish I was perfect and did the right/moral/difficult thing every day, but I can't. And the worst part is when I get taken advantage of when I am being nice. I get tired of being treated like an easy target for bullies, or treated like a slave by family members, and when I do stand up for myself, NONCHRISTIANS tell me I need to 'turn' the other cheek! (These are the guilty parties as mentioned above) It's maddening. They don't care about me or my religion, they just want a punching bag!
