Is value scientific?How scientific is value?

In this deviation, I will discuss the relationship between the concept of value and science- although it should be noted that by "science" in this context, I mean naturalistic, atheistic science. A question for naturalistic atheists who claim science as the ultimate source of truth, and reject notions of faith or Christianity.
Here are a couple of possibilities of what the concept of value may be:

"Is value actually something real and objective (grounded in objective fact)," or

"Is value really just something fundamentally subjective, and grounded in sentiment (emotion)?"

Some briefs criticisms of believing that morality can stem purely from measuring happiness and suffering. This system goes that happiness and pleasure are good in themselves and suffering and pain are evils. Thus, the morality of an action can effectively be calculated from weighing up how much pain and pleasure it produces. In order to make this system work, a Hedonic Calculus (a system of measuring up pain and pleasure) was constructed.

The Hedonic Calculus was devised by J.S. Mill, and it attempts to objectively measure happiness verses suffering. There are different factors of pleasure to be conside

When discussing the existence of God, atheists are quick to point out that the "burden of proof" rests on the theist, not the atheist. This is because the theist is making the positive claim on something, while the atheist is only expressing disbelief. Their logic is that since theists are making a positive claim, they are the ones who carry the burden of proof, not the atheists to disprove.

However, we have to consider the statement being made here, on the existence of God- when you believe in, or deny, the existence of God, what claim are you implying?

Not sure what you mean when you say 90% of what you learn in school you never use again in your life. Are you able to read? Write? Perform basic math? Identify historical figures and dates? Safe to say you're using that knowledge right now as we speak.

Story of my life. I really don't regret finishing high school. Everyone's like "Oh you'll see how you'll wanna get back to school one day. You'll remember I told you this." but I really don't see that going to happen. I love college life.

HAHAHA I know exactly what you mean!

A lot of adults are like: "you'll miss school, as you get older. You'll look back on school as the good old days".

...

When I reminisce the days when I spent every waking minute living in anxiety, paranoia, bitterness and hatred, being kicked, punched, slapped, abused (physically, emotionally and even sexually), ganged up on, insulted, sworn at, rejected, outcasted, punished for someone else's misdeeds, disrespected, told to "go die" and that "no-one values your existence", hated on, ostracized and generally treated like diarrhoea by people either physically or socially stronger than me, I'm sure I will! ;) Thanks for the comment.

The one problem I have with college is that government is steadily gaining more and more control/influence in it. What does this mean? It means that just about every sociology, history, and political science book I have read is contractually obligated to kiss Barack Obama's feet.

I still enjoy college, but God only knows how long that will last.
